I was born and grew up in bonny Scotland in the fair city of Edinburgh. I obtained my medical degree (MB ChB) in 1997. I also have a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRCOG) and I am a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP UK) equivalent to the FRACGP here in Australia. I previously worked as a GP for a year in Christchurch, New Zealand and was a partner across the water from Edinburgh in Fife, Scotland for 10 years.

My special interests are in GP education and GP training. I also have an interest in Musculoskeletal  problems, and have a Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine.

I took a sabbatical to Australia in 2012 and the rest, as they say, is history. My wife and I and our 3 children very much enjoy living in Tasmania and becoming part of the community.

Having worked at the Longford and Perth surgery since 2013, I became a partner in the practice in 2015. I enjoy all aspects of general practice and work in the surgery on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. I continue my interest in GP training as a senior medical educator with GP Training Tasmania on Mondays and Tuesdays.
