Sue Aylett

Mental Health Nurse Consultant

Sue Aylett

I am currently employed as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in general practice at Longford/Perth Surgery. I am also a Credentialed Mental Health Nurse.

I currently work as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner clinically within my private practice “Mental Upkeep” at Perth Surgery. I have been involved within the practice for over 10 years. I am also a registered Credentialed Mental Health Nurse and Lecturer for UTAS.

I find working with clients in the Northern Midlands both enjoyable and rewarding. I have been able to develop my role as a MHNP with the wonderful and ongoing support of the practice Principals.. I have been the first MHNP to work in a clinical setting in Tasmania and believe that this is a valuable role in a rural setting and enables me the opportunity to also see clients in their own homes on an ongoing basis.

I am a long standing member of the Tasmanian Mental Health Tribunal and an advocate for mental health reform in the community. I am a lecturer and tutor  in mental health for the Faculty of Health Science at the University of Tasmania, and enjoy teaching and instilling passion in undergraduate and postgraduate students in mental health nursing in the aim of strengthening the mental health nursing profession within Tasmania.  I have previously worked in acute, rehabilitation, forensic and community mental health and been a active member of the Guardianship and Administration Board from 2012-2018. I have a graduate diploma in mental health and forensic nursing, a graduate certificate in Initiatic Art Therapy and Master’s degree in Forensic Mental Health  and a Masters degree of Nurse Practitioner specialising in Mental Health.

I enjoy spending time with my wonderful partner, my two beautiful daughters and my gorgeous granddaughter enjoying the pleasures of life.
